| Brief Description |
The factor analysis of the AWS confirmed that conceptually, the scale is best conceived of as a single dimension. That is, trying to determine whether it is arthritis or work that is more likely to affect the other is not as relevant as assessing the global perception of spillover and conflict between these two areas of life. Interestingly, younger, not older, adults reported more spillover. However, other research finds that younger adults are more likely to make arthritis-related changes such as changing the hours of work, or the type and nature of their employment. Alternatively, older adults might see their arthritis as age normative, and perceive less spillover of their condition and work than younger adults. Finally, much of the variance in predicting perceptions of AWS was unaccounted for in the regression analyses. Inter-item correlation: 0.36-0.74 (p<0.01). PCA (varimax rotation): ≥ 0.69 (factor accounted for 62 % of variance). |
