| Brief Description |
SPAKE is a questionnaire assessing knowledge of spondyloarthritis, with 42 questions (32-item in short form), covering 6 domains on patients knowledge, pharmacological treatment, nonpharmacological treatment, comorbidity, self-care, and adaptive skills. It includes questions on pharmacological strategy, biologic DMARDs, self-care for fatigue, cardiovascular comorbidity, and adaptive skills. In the validation study, the long-form score was 71.6 (SD 15.4), with higher scores in nonpharmacological treatments and adaptive skills, and lower scores in cardiovascular comorbidity and pharmacological treatments. The internal validity coefficient was 0.85, and SPAKE showed good sensitivity to change. After patient education sessions, scores increased from 69.2 (SD 15.3) to 82.7 (SD 14.0) with a Hedges effect size of 0.92 (95% CI 0.52-1.31). |
