DESCRIPTION OF THE INSTRUMENT
Type Of Measure Questionnaire
Brief Description

The RAKE (RA Knowledge Questionnaire) is a self-administered questionnaire that assesses knowledge of various aspects related to rheumatoid arthritis (RA), including disease, comorbidity, pharmacological treatments, non-pharmacological treatments, self-care, and adaptive skills. The long form of the questionnaire consists of 6 knowledge domains with a total of 45 items. Compared to prior questionnaires, RAKE contains fewer questions about the causes and symptoms of RA but includes more questions about topics such as the role of tobacco consumption in RA onset, pharmacological strategies, and biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs), as well as physical activity and adaptive skills such as patients' pathway, relation with healthcare professionals, shared decision making, and patient education.

Number of Items 45-items, with a 32-item short-form survey.

OTHER COMMENTS
Other Comments

The RAKE questionnaire was constructed with input from healthcare professionals and patients at each stage of the process and showed good acceptability, internal and external consistency, test-retest reproducibility, and sensitivity to change. The RAKE addresses patients' needs for knowledge related to targeted drugs, safety messages on pharmacological treatments, and treatment strategies, such as early management, the goal of remission, and shared decision making in accordance with international guidelines.
