| DESCRIPTION OF THE INSTRUMENT | |
| Type Of Measure | Score |
| Brief Description |
The Psoriatic Arthritis Ratingen score (PARS) is the only scoring system that was specifically designed for PsA and may better account for the bone pathology changes (destruction and proliferation) seen in these patients. Destruction is scored from 0 to 5 and measures percentage of joint surface destruction, with a score of 5 reflecting destruction of > 75% of the joint surface. Proliferation is scored from 0 to 4 and measures bony outgrowth in millimeters, also accounting for the size of the new growth relative to the original diameter of the bone |
| Number of Items | Assessment of 30 joints in the hands and 10 joints in the feet |
| Range | 0-360 |
| Responses options/scale |
Yes 0-5 for DS and 0-4 for PS |
| Developed for | --- |
| PRACTICAL APPLICATION | |
| Method of administration | Interviewer/assessor, Physician |
| Recommendations to score |
All joints are scored separately for destruction and proliferation. The destruction score (DS) is based on the amount of joint surface destruction on a 0–5 scale. The proliferation score (PS) considers any kind of bony proliferation typical for PsA on a 0–4 scale. |
| Score Interpretation | Higer scores indicate worse radiographic assessment |
