Cross-culturally valid, short measure of physical function that uses function subscales (daily living and sports and recreation) of the Hip disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS).  The HOOS-PS aims to measure physical functioning with fewer items and similar validity compared to the full-length measurements instruments, in order to minimize the burden of the responder and decrease the administrative load. 

The HOOS-PS questionnaire is scored by summing the raw response (range 0-20) and then using a nomogram to convert the raw score to a true interval score (0-100). HOOS-PS was originally scored from no difficulty (0) to extreme difficulty (100). HOOS-PS can be scored in two directions, from no difficulty (0) to extreme difficulty (100), as in the original HOOS-PS publication and from extreme difficulty (0) to no difficulty (100) (table 1a) in accordance with HOOS.
