| DESCRIPTION OF THE INSTRUMENT | |
| Type Of Measure | Questionnaire |
| Brief Description |
Patient self-administered questionnaire that includes assessment of functional disability, quality of life, VAS for spinal pain, joint pain, global status, fatigue, duration of morning stiffness, review of the systems, falls and cardiovascular risks, self-helplessness as well as self-reported joint and soft tissue pain. |
| Number of Items | 11 |
| Range | Depends on the item. Please see response options/scale. |
| Responses options/scale |
Yes It depends on the item 1) The combined AS questionnaire (CASQ + CASQ-FI + CASQ-QoL): 0 = without any difficulty, 1 = with some difficulty, 2 = with much difficulty and 3 = unable to do. 2) The VAS (0-10 cm) 3) Time scale (0 to ≥2 hours) for duration of morning stiffness. 4) Self-report joint sites: on a manequin. 5) A checklist of 40 common symptoms: yes/no 6) The modified rheumatology attitude index (RAI, a previously validated instrument), including 10 items questions and using a 0–10 cm VAS. |
| Developed for | Both |
| PRACTICAL APPLICATION | |
| Method of administration | Self-administered |
| Recommendations to score |
The 11 items are assessed individually and there is no global score. For RAI, a mean score is calculated across all items. For CASQ-QoL and CASQ-FI the score of each questionnaire is the sum of individual item score divided by 10 and therefore the total score ranges 0-3. |
| Score Interpretation | Higher score indicates worse status for the disease domain. |
| Cut-off points | Not developed. |
| Cut-off points applied to | --- |
| Smallest detectable change if described | --- |
| Smallest detectable change applied to | --- |
| Completion time by the patient | Mean 8.5 minutes (SD 1.48). minutes |
| Scoring time by the assessor | 0 minutes |
| Training to score | Not necessary |
