In a systematic review, Cronbach’s α for the PRWE indicated good internal constancy (more than 0.75) across 12 studies. Crohnbach’s α for the PRWHE was 0.96 in patients with distal radial fracture. In a cohort of 92 patients with first carpometacarpal (CMC) OA, Crohnbach’s α for the PRWHE was 0.97. In 166 patients with hand and wrist problems, Cronbach’s α for the PRWHE was 0.85 |

The test-retest reliability of PRWE was good in a systematic review, with ICC values of more than 0.85 in 10 studies and less than 0.85 in two studies (112). The test-retest reliability for PRWHE was good, with an ICC of 0.97 in a study of 48 patients with hand or wrist problems, whereas the ICC was 0.87 in patients with distal radial fracture. |

The original questionnaire was developed as the PRWE based on a survey of all members of the International Wrist Investigators. The survey information was used to decide on structure and content of the tool. The item generation was based on patient and expert interviews, evidence on wrist function from biomechanical literature, and other questionnaires. Item reduction involved patient and expert opinion and pilot testing. The PRWE was later adapted to include references to the complaints of the hand, although the questions themselves were not changed. Extra optional questions about the appearance of the hand were also added |
