The JADAS uses clinical assessment of joint counts and MD global combined with selfadministered PGA. It also uses ESR obtained from laboratory examinations. PGA and MD global are scored on a 10-cm VAS or on a 0 to 10 21-circle Likert scale. The active joint count is an unselected count cut at 10 for JADAS10, a selected count of 27 joints for JADAS27, and an unselected, unrestricted count for JADAS71. The JADAS27 active joint count includes the following joints: cervical spine, elbows, wrists, metacarpophalangeal joints (from first to third), proximal interphalangeal joints, hips, knees, and ankles. ESR in mm/hour is normalized according to the formula (value in mm/hour − 20)/10, yielding a 0 to 10 range. Before calculation, values less than 20 mm/hour are converted to 20, and values more than 120 mm/hour are converted to 120. In the JADAS-CRP, CRP is normalized to a 0 to 10 scale according to the following formula: (CRP (mg/liter) − 10)/10. Before calculation, CRP values less than 10 mg/liter were converted to 10, and CRP values more than 110 mg/liter were converted to 110. The final score is given by the simple sum of its component |
