Brief Description

The comparative responsiveness of Hospital Universitario Princesa Index and other composite indices for assessing rheumatoid arthritis activity. 

This article aims to evaluate the responsiveness in terms of correlation of the HUPI comparatively to the traditional composite indices used to assess disease activity in RA, and to compare the performance of HUPI-based response criteria with that of the EULAR response criteria.

Brief Description

The Hospital Universitario La Princesa Index (HUPI) is based on the sum of 4 variables graded from 0 to 3: tender joint count, swollen joint count, patient global disease assessment, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate/C‐reactive protein level. The index is feasible and sensitive to change, and could prove superior to previous indices in that it prevents bias arising from sex and missing data.
