| DESCRIPTION OF THE INSTRUMENT | |
| Type Of Measure | Questionnaire |
| Brief Description |
Patient-completed tool used to give a global assessment of the well-being of the person with AS/axial SpA over a given time period. The patient global assessment evaluates the impact of AS from the patients’ perspective. The BAS-G consists of two questions that ask patients’ to indicate the effect the disease has had on their well-being over the last week and last six months. |
| Number of Items | 2 |
| Range | 0-20 |
| Responses options/scale |
Yes none = 0 and very severe = 10 |
| Developed for | --- |
| PRACTICAL APPLICATION | |
| Method of administration | Self-administered |
| Recommendations to score |
Each question represents a different timeframe and should be interpreted individually. However, the two questions can to be added up. After having a total Score out of 20, itis divided by 2 to obtain an average, this is the BAS-G score. The mean of the two scores gives a BAS-G score of 0 – 10. |
| Score Interpretation | The higher the score, the greater the perceived effect of the disease on the patient’s well-being. |
