Cronbach's (Describe)

The internal consistency as measured by Cronbach’s alpha coefficients was low for the four domains identified. However, these low internal consistency estimates may partially be due to only having two or three items within each domain. Using the Spearman–Brown prophecy formula to adjust the Cronbach’s alpha coefficients to domains with 10 items each improved the internal consistency of each factor to range between 0.75 and 0.91, significantly better than the single factor model, which had 10 items.

Brief Description

Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test scale structure: knowledge, attitude/actions, and health behavior. Six of the ten items had a low index of difficulty. These items largely examined osteoporosis risk factors. The remaining four items identified significant knowledge deficits in the areas of osteoporosis consequences, prevention, and treatment. Confirmatory factor analysis identified four distinct osteoporosis knowledge domains.
