DESCRIPTION OF THE INSTRUMENT
Type Of Measure Questionnaire
Brief Description

The ENAT is a self-completed questionnaire, which allows patients with arthritis to prioritise their educational needs. It is composed of 39 items grouped into seven domains: managing pain (six items), movement (five items), feelings (four items), disease process (seven items), treatments (seven items), self-help measures (six items) and support systems (four items).

Number of Items 39
Range 0-156
Responses options/scale Yes
Items are completed by the use of Likert scales ranging from 1—‘not important at all’ to 5—‘extremely important’.
Developed for Clinical practice, Research
PRACTICAL APPLICATION
Method of administration Self-administered
Recommendations to score

A total ENAT score (0–156) is calculated by summing all 39 items.

Score Interpretation Higher scoring equals higher educational needs
