| Brief Description |
Tophus Impact Questionnaire (TIQ-20) is a PRO tool to assess tophus burden in people with gout. The TIQ-20 included items related to pain, activity limitation, footwear modification, participation, psychological impact and healthcare utilisation due to tophi. It was developed in 2014 in response to recommendations from OMERACT 10 for a tophus-specific PROM for use in studies of gout. |

The TIQ-20 has a raw score range of 0 to 20. This is converted into a Rasch-modeled score (TIQ-20 RM score), which has a nominal range of 0 to 10. The process for this is outlined in online supplementary table 3 of the original study, although the online calculator generates the TIQ-20 RM score automatically for the user. |

The TIQ-20 provides a tophus-specific PROM for use in studies of gout. This has been shown to accurately reflect the impact of gouty tophi disease on patients when compared with the HAQ-II. |
