This study analyzes the important aspects on self-management by explaining three tasks and five core strategies (problem-solving, decision-making, resource utilization, formation of a patient/healthcare provider partnership, and taking action) on the basis of the experiences of the authors, a literature review, and on the findings of a qualitative study conducted by Corbin and Straus (1988) . These tasks and strategies clearly revealed the multidimensional, complex nature of self-management. |
