| 1. RELIABILITY | |
| A. Internal Consistency | Tested |
| Cronbach's (Describe) |
Cronbach’s alpha reported in 4 papers showed values that ranged from 0.872 to 0.914. |
| B. Reliability intraobserver or test-retest | Tested |
| Continuous scores: intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) Dichotomus: Cohen kappa (Describe) |
ICC ranged from 0.817 to 0.971. The test–retest correlation for the total score was 0.817, indicating a high level of reliability between administrations. |
| C. Reliability interobserver or Measurement error | Tested |
| Standard error of measurement (SEM), smallest detectable change (SDC) or Limits of agreement (LoA) (Describe) |
A cut-off score of 40 out of 100 on the CSI produced good sensitivity (81%) in correctly identifying a group of central sensitization syndrome patients, and acceptable specificity (75%) in correctly identifying a group of non-patient comparison subjects |
| 2. VALIDITY | |
| A. Content validity: face validity | Tested |
| Expert opinion (relevance and comprehensiveness) (Describe) |
Several studies reported on content validity using “excellent” quality evidence. |
| B. Construct Validity: Structural validity |

| Hypotheses-testing | Tested |
| Cross-cultural validity | Tested |
| Brief Description |
Factor analyses reported that 4 factors accounted for 53.4% of their variance. In a study on knee OA, the initial evaluation with Rasch modelling indicated misfit. Eleven of 25 items on the CSI displayed disordered thresholds which were rescored by collapsing response categories until the thresholds demonstrated sequential progression. Reanalysis demonstrated persistent model misfit so a subtest was developed to address local dependency of 6 items. Thereafter, model fit was achieved (P = 0.071, indicating not differing from Rasch model) and acceptable unidimensionality (P = 0.068 with 95% CI 0.043-0.093). |
| C. Criterion validity | Tested |
| Comparison with a 'gold standard' Continuous scores: correlations, ROC curves Dichotomus: Sensitivity & Specificity (Describe) |
Several studies reported "good" to "excellent" criterion validity. COSMIN definition of criterion validity necessitates a gold standard. The standard in these studies was clinician diagnoses of 1 or more central sensitivity syndromes |
